Having your own personal driver is one of the great benefits when you work as an expat. You’re always flexible and you can do more in a day; finding a parking space, finding the way, storing goods….it’s all done in someone else’s time. However, personal drivers only come with expat-assignments. So, what to do when you are here for travel purpose only and you want to experience the luxury of having a car and driver to accompany you? What could you do? Very quickly after our arrival in Pune we learnt about Uber, a service I use very often in the Netherlands. If you want to travel from A to B in this city you definitely need a car, as Pune is a very big city. And to do so, using Uber is very convenient. Just open the Uber app – once you activated this great service is works everywhere in the world – fill in where you want to go and press start. It will only take a few seconds. And now the big benefit: it is relatively cheap. An average ride in Pune will take up to 20-30 minutes and it will cost you not more than 100 INR, around 1,5 euro. With more than 5.000 Uber-cars in Pune (!), there is no fear of waiting very long.
